All races except the 22.2 km on Saturday and the 10-kilometer on Sunday begin and end at Lions Park
RUNNING. One of Quebec’s most popular foot races returns to the shores of Brome Lake and the village of Knowlton as the Tour du Lac Brome Merrell presents its 39th annual series of running events from June 16 to 18. Thousands of beginners and elite runners from across Quebec participate in this scenic summer run, both on the roads and cross-country.
The Tour begins on Friday, june 16 with the very popular Cani-Cross, in which runners with their dogs take to the trails for a woodland run. Race kits can be picked up starting at 4:30 p.m. The 2-kilometer event begins at 6:30 and the 5-kilometer event at 7:00. Awards for the two Cani-Cross events will be given at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday afternoon, race kits can be picked up as of 3:30 p.m. A 22.2-kilometer road run and a 2-kilometer trail run both start at 5:30 p.m., and a 5-kilometer road run at 6:30. Awards for the 2-kilometer trail run and 5-kilometer road run will be given out at 6:30 p.m. The evening race is a 9-kilometer trail run, with awards for that and the 22.2-kilometer road run at 8:30 p.m.
Sunday starts early, with race kit pick-up beginning at 7:00 a.m. At 9:00 a.m., a 10-kilometer and a 20-kilometer road run begin, with awards at 11:00 a.m. At 11:30 a.m. there is a 1-kilometer “Petit Marathon” for kids, and the now-famous 1.6-kilometer Duck Mile starts at 12 noon. Awards for the 1-kilometer and 1.6-kilometer events take place at 1:00 p.m.
All races except the 22.2 km on Saturday and the 10-kilometer on Sunday begin and end at Lions Park, located at 37 Centre Road in Knowlton. For the 2 exceptions, shuttle service will be available. Parking is free at Lions Park.
First aid and water stations are set up every 3 to 4 kilometers along the courses and near the start and finish line area. After the event a traditional Brome Lake duck meal will be served to all registered participants. A café-bistro service will also be set up at Lions Park with proceeds going to local elementary schools to support their sporting activities.
